Chicago has numerous festivals to attend this summer, but there is only one where life’s a beach. Mamby on the Beach is Chicago’s only beachside summer music festival, featuring a backdrop of Chicago’s skyline and Lake Michigan’s sparkling waters. The fest, which takes place at Oakwood Beach on June 23rd & 24th, will play host to some of the most defining indie, electronic and hip hop artists of today. Mamby on the Beach offers so much, here are five things you absolutely need to check out:
THE MUSIC
First and foremost, the music at Mamby is hot. The line-up features something for everyone: from indie rock bands Grizzly Bear and Cold War Kids to chart-toppers Spoon, you got rock covered. If you want to dance, Duke Dumont and Richie Hawtin have the beats you crave. And since this Chicago, Mamby on the Beach is bringing Chicago’s own superstar, Common, to headline this party.

MORE THAN THE MUSIC
If the music isn’t enough for you, you’re super picky, but Mamby offers way more than music. Wanna act like a kid? Than join in on the Beach Battle Royale Water Fight, where fans can engage in all-out water balloon madness. Did you miss the gym on the way to the beach? Don’t worry, Mamby on the Beach offers yoga. And not just plain old yoga, Silent Disco Yoga, so you get to choose the music you listen too. New this year are Gong Baths, which is a form of “vibrational therapy” where the sound from a gong will help you find inner peace. How cool is that? There’s also a chance to pet some foster puppies at the Doggy Dome and even apply to take them home! These activities provide a totally unique festival experience.

THE FASHION
How to describe the fashion at Mamby? Lots of neon. Polka-dot pajamas. Bikinis. Maybe some fur. Many, many raver-girl tutus. Anything goes as long as you can dance your ass off in it. To help with your look, Mamby provides Henna Art tattoos, metallic body tattoos, and a Braid Bar to give you the perfect beach ‘do. The styles at Mamby are an attraction onto themselves. So work it.

You to take a dip in Lake Michigan? You don’t want to get stuck behind Wun Wun the giant when watching the shows? Wanna skip the lines? Well, VIP access offers you water access, preferred viewing, express entry and even premium drinks. So there is no reason not to treat yourself and act a little fancy.
THE PARTIES ALREADY STARTED
Can’t wait for the fun to begin? It already has! Mamby will be announcing a few Official Preparties to get in the mood. The first of which is Sir the Baptist June 15th at Chop Shop in Chicago! Summer just started and Mamby on the Beach has already made it hot. And the fun does not end at the beach because “after the show it’s the after-parties”.
