The Taste of the NFL, the largest philanthropic event of the NFL held during Super Bowl weekend, offered attendees the chance to sample New Orleans cuisine and meet iconic football players, all in the name of a great cause: raising money for GENYOUth to combat student hunger.

Several local chefs treated guests to renowned signature dishes. Acme Oyster House featured “Louisiana Surf & Turf,” which was a delicious beef tartare, in an edible oyster shell, topped with a smoked oyster aioli, by Chef Tony Rodrigue. The crawfish cheesecake (NOT a desert!), by Chef Geordie Brown of Palace Cafe, was a flavorful favorite of many attendees. Other popular dishes included the Roast Beef Debris Po’ Boy, and many other legendary local restaurants, including Brennan’s and Dooky Chase’s Restaurants, and their chefs, made sure everyone knew why New Orleans cuisine is so iconic.

Held at the top-rated World War II Museum, the unique setting of the event showcased the expansiveness of the Museum, giving guests a tiny glimpse of what the museum has to offer. The US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center is a massive open space with World War II aircraft hanging overhead, and in this case, over the throngs of guests, chefs and NFL players, former and current.

Attendees of the Taste of the NFL enjoyed autograph-signing sessions with NFL greats¹, curated cocktails, a live auction for Super Bowl LIX tickets, a silent sports memorabilia auction, a unique fundraising “lunchbox” wall presented by Walmart, and special FEED gift bags sponsored by Lay’s for all guests. Entertainment was provided by talented musicians from Southern University, along with other surprise and delight moments. Second Harvest of Southeast Louisiana supported food recovery efforts.
Taste of the NFL raised critical funds for GENYOUth’s commitment to tackling food insecurity. Net proceeds benefited GENYOUth’s efforts to end student hunger by supporting school nutrition programs and delivering critical school meal equipment packages to high-need schools throughout Louisiana. In addition, Taste of the NFL proceeds supported school nutrition programs with equipment grants in all 32 NFL Club markets across the nation.
